Bear Fiction: The Dream Thief

2nd Update: "The Dream Thief" is live on Amazon now, here. It is 99 cents, of which the Bear gets 35 cents. Sorry, but Amazon demanded a price and the Bear set it the lowest he could. It's readable in under two hours.

Update: The Kindle version should be available through Amazon soon. Look for "The Dream Thief" by Ursula Archer. That is a pun on the Bear's species, ursus arctos. The Bear wants you to know he's not going all Caitlyn Jenner on you.

But there's a catch. Amazon demands a price be set. The Bear set the lowest, 99 cents. Is a long short story (between 9000 and 10,000 words) worth 99 cents? The Bear does not know. He apologizes. He does think it is a ripping yarn, but he would. On the other hand, now he knows how to publish on Amazon. He has a feeling we haven't seen the last of Ursula Archer.

Bear fiction time! The Bear has completed a novelette. There is a link in the files section to the right ("Creative Work") for the ePub version, which should work with Apple's iBooks app so you can read it all nicely formatted like a real book. The Bear is still working on a Kindle-friendly version, but will get it up in the same place. He hopes.

And please, no moral judgments on the author or his characters until you've read the whole thing.

This is by no means great literature, just fun for the Bear, and maybe you, if you like stories with love, mystery, some murder, and just a bit of strangeness. Just a reminder, it's still considered short fiction, so it's pretty sparely written.

If you have the Apple iBooks app, go here to download the novelette. If Dropbox wants you to sign up, you can just ignore that and download the file. (Although it's a pretty handy way to share files.)

Pleasant dreams.

  1. You have left the reader wanting more (first rule of successful authoring :-). Nicely done! Just don't make us wait too long for the next installment.

  2. No, this time everything will be available, all 37 pages. Not great literature by any means. Hopefully an interesting time-waster with good guys and bad guys and maybe a surprise or two. Just completed my final revision, but I want other eyes than mine for the last proof. Seeing if I can publish it as an ePub book rather than PDF. It's so much nicer -- as long as people can read it with a Kindle.

  3. Congratulations, Ursula. That's a very sexy name. Reminds me of Ursual Undress.

  4. Congrats! I am very impressed at your commitment to productive activity!

    1. Like the song says, "Bears just want to have fun."
