One More Thought on New Jew View

Jesus as "Process" Not Person

The Bear continues to gnaw "The Gifts and Calling of God are Irrevocable." He hopes you'll forgive him, but he grows anxious and growls. He is angry. This riles him more than anything we've seen in this pontificate, because it touches upon Our Lord and our Church in particularly novel and disrespectful ways.

If Jews reject Jesus, and have no faith in Him, and do not encounter Him as the Son of God, and yet are still somehow "saved through Jesus Christ," doesn't that reduce salvation to a perfunctory, mechanistic, even bureaucratic process that ignores Jesus as Person, let alone King?

"Here, let me punch your Jesus ticket for you."

"Yes, you'll want to follow the signs to the Jesus platform, and from there it's straight to Heaven."

No wonder they punted and said it was a "unfathomable divine mystery." It is impossible to reconcile universal salvation in Jesus Christ and salvation by a Jewish covenant. The Church has always believed all people, including Jews, must come to her, the ark, or be lost. The Church's leadership obviously hasn't believed that in many a decade.

Poor Sheep and Wicked Shepherds

Funny how the truth changes with the era. Oh, how wary we poor sheep must be, led away from the sweet pastures and cool water into the thorny desert of Modernism by wicked shepherds! Now we're told that it is not enough that we offer them salvation, but we suddenly cannot understand the Catholic Church without making it a hybrid Jew-Gentile construct!

You can read this infamous document here if you think the Bear may be exaggerating. John Allen at Crux takes an above-it-all attitude and shrugs it off as something that would have been revolutionary in the past, but is now just routine. Unfortunately, the revolutionary is the routine, but not in the comforting way Allen thinks. Jews for Jesus, a messianic Jewish group (Jews who believe in Jesus) expressed horror at what they consider a misuse of scripture to "pander" to Jewish leaders. Finally, there is a very well done piece at Unam Sanctam Catholicam that traces the power of the Holocaust in shaping Catholic thought across the papacies of St. Pope John Paul II and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI.

Exchanging Catholic Truth for a Press Conference

It seems to the Bear to heap more indignities upon Our Savior by reducing him from a Person to a "salvation process." Aren't we always reminded not to treat persons as things? Yet we do it to Our Lord and are proud of our efforts? And remember, the Jews didn't do this. This was our own Church being "progressive," and engaging in "dialogue."

This is always the result of dialogue. We give up Catholic truth in return for a press conference.

What's Behind the Horror Unfolding In the Church?

The Bear hasn't been much for conspiracy theories. All of these hijinks seem to be the sort of thing any liberal organization will churn out from profound ignorance and naiveté -- oh, and always in the name of progress. Look at Pope Francis: the very embodiment of leftism. Catholicism, well you be the judge. But we're going to have to start being aware of converging lines of evidence, themes, phrases: in short, the Church's trajectory.

To the Bear, it looks like we're way off course, and he doesn't think it has happened by accident. Where are we headed? The religious ideas of Modernism are converging with progressive political movements. Why does the Church want to be a political player on a global scale? Is there any doubt about that? Why does it promote itself as first among equals with other religions? Why does it turn itself into a pretzel to make Judaism an essential element of itself? Is there anything it won't do or say to get a press conference?

The Bear has been reluctant to call anything evil. Starting with this document, the Bear calls it. Evil. He doesn't know about the participants, but they are certainly untrustworthy at the very least.

You sheep are going to need to become wolves before this is over.

Oh, that is a nice turn of phrase.

It is easy to deal with an impersonal "process". The process can mean many things to many different people.

Satan is not at war with a "process". He is at war with a very real Person. He knows he will one day be bound in chains by that very real Person. It is the Person that inspires anger in some; and the Person who inspires devotion and love in others. It is the Person who we will spend eternity with; whom we must believe in, receive Sacraments from; and enjoy in this life and forever.

The Jews rejected this Person when among us and hated Him. The Jews reject this person still. They reject His Sacramental Graces. They certainly don't enjoy Him now and cannot possibly in eternity unless they convert to love the Word Incarnate.

You have certainly caught a very appropriate scent. I might have passed over this one, as one scandal among many, but sure see your point that this means more than the rest. Interesting.

  2. The heavy thick Temple curtain was rent by God. The covenant was broken. Vat 2 removed the Holy Friday prayers for the conversion of the Jews. Paul vi even brought in a Jew to help write the new mass. It's all very diabolical.

Perhaps Francischurch can de-canonize Edith Stein and Alphonse Ratisbonne---silly Jews who converted to the Catholic faith. Perhaps Rosalind Moss and her priest brother David and Bob Fischbein (converts from Judaism on EWTN) can just return to the faith of their childhood. Why not? It's all so diabolical.

Unnail your paw and get the hell out while u can. If no independent chapels are nearby, find an SSPX or Eastern rite Catholic Church.

I still work for the Novus Ordo church but won't give a dime of my money to it. I only take the sacraments at a pre-Vat 2 independent chapel. Thank God there is one within an hour's drive.

  3. Correction to my earlier comment. Marie Alphonse Ratisbonne is not a saint, but his conversion story from Judaism to Catholicism is tauted in many publications.
In the wake of Frankenchurch's pronouncement on Judaism, Ratisbonne should be eliminated from Catholic literature.

  4. I'm still reading the blogs on this document and a discomfiting thought is taking shape. As well as consigning the Jews to Hell, what about the fate of the people who drafted and released this thing? What Jesus said about those who would lead his little ones away from him, the millstone about the neck and the bottom of the sea? Sounds to me like the Church is, by omission, allowing the Jews to be led away from Jesus. I was suprised by the inclusion of the Holocaust at the end of the document; this may comprise a major element in the reason for its existence.

  5. Very good Bear. Let me tell about the dream I had the other night. Jesus suddenly appeared at the podium at the United Nations and began describing the sinful state of the world. The assembly became increasing uneasy. Someone called for security and two guards made a grab for Jesus but ending by grabbing each other as Jesus suddenly became huge and floated above the assembly and began sprinkling Holy water and then disappeared. For a short time there was stunned silence. But slowly applause and laughter soon began to break out, increasing to a roar as most everyone thought they had witnessed a marvelous new technology of holographic projection. A few began to wonder who was responsible for such a great show.

  6. I am convinced my information ratio is radically so messed up, I don't know what to think anymore. There's Bear, who(m) I most admire and respect and then there's this man, a priest, who is looking through a different lense, Fr. George David Byers. He writes under "Arise, let us be going"

  7. Look, it could simply be the anthropocentric desire for self preservation given that the Jewish State, Israel, has nukes targeted at Rome for use in the Samson Option.

Maybe the Prelature thinks it might be blowed-up if they try to act like Peter and The Apostles and go into Synagogues and private homes (Acts) and preach Christ and Conversion but we don;t do that anymore because continuity.

Or, maybe they have been given new marching orders by B'nai B'rith which was solicited to give input on the new Catechism before it was promulgated.

Pat Buchanan once infamously observed that the US Legislature was enemy-occupied territory (under Jewish control) and so one might say that Rome is enemy-occupied territory.

Bear, ask any one of your Catholic friends "What is the Holocaust and do you deny it? and you will hear the answer, "The Holocaust was the killing of the Jews by the Nazis and only evil men deny it happened."

See, the Messias-Deniers have successfully cultivated the minds of all Catholics - especially the Hierarchy which routinely references the Holocaust as the ultimate crime.

That is, the Hierarchy has willing participated in supplanting with war crimes THE Holocaust.

THE Holocaust is the Pluperfect Salvific Sacrifice on Calvary by Jesus Christ in which His burning love, his fiery charity, replaced the material fire of the Old Testament types and which types were intended to prepare the chosen people to accept the Messias and His Holocaust as the way man would be saved from Hell and ransomed from the devil.

But, all of that is gone, isn't it?

You will never hear a Pope or Prelate speak about THE Holocaust- the sole Holocaust worthy of the name if one is Catholic - but one will frequently hear a Pope or Prelate speak of the WW2 holocaust - as though the Nazi's were sacrificing Jews as an act of worship of our Triune God.

Even one of the gang of eight, O'malley from Boston, has publicly stated that Holocaust was the worst crime in history - Well, so much for Deicide.

    Lord have mercy.

it is FAR FAR worse than what even the Bear imagines.

The Messias-Deniers, who are, by dint of an ineffable irony, Holocaust-Deniers and we not only accept their denial of both Jesus and His Holocaust, we praise them for it and claim that the Messias-Denying Holocaust-Deniers will attain unto Salvation.

Give the Synagogue its due, it has temporarily whipped our sorry ass.

    1. I didn't quite know what to make of that as I began, but by the end I was duly impressed. Not just a new slant; that is really important. And it ties in with The Bear's contention that this is a really big deal.

    2. Bear's sources tell him Mossad has a team en route to your location since you know Israel's top-secret nuclear targeting and strategies.

For the rest, please be reasonable. It is far more likely this is something the Vatican wanted, rather than a Jewish conspiracy. No one needs to conspire against the Church. It is perfectly capable of autodemolition.

    3. I also find conspiracy talk frustrating and a pointless waste of time. Not remotely the point here.

The point I found interesting was reclaiming the word "holocaust". I had never thought of Jesus' immolation as a holocaust offering; as the fulfillment of all OT Holocaust Offerings.

I am still unpacking the implications of seeing it this way. It certainly makes the strange liturgical detail of our OT make much more sense, seen in this light.

    4. In A.D. 70, the Temple was destroyed with typical Roman thoroughness. There were no more sacrifices because there didn't need to be. Jesus was the all-time sacrifice, whole burnt offering, holocaust of which the Jewish sacrifices were just figures.

  8. Thinking about this issue again last night made me think about a quote from Gaudium et Spes, 22:
"For by His incarnation the Son of God has united Himself in some fashion with every man."

This is a central takeaway line from VII that Pope John Paul II used over and over in his encyclicals. It is the central idea surrounding the post-conciliar Catechism's endless tripe on the "dignity of man." ... and it's also the reason why many people believe that JPII taught a sort of cloaked universal salvation. (Read: Pope John Paul II's Theological Journey to the Prayer Meeting of Religions in Assisi, all parts, all volumes)

Read through JPII's United States visit to Miami, 1987, Meeting with the representatives of the Jewish organizations. Sounds like it could have been from the Francis pontificate, right? Same themes, same pandering, same in regards to the ever-mentioned Holocaust.

Holocaustianity They act as if, for the Jews, the Cross was replaced by Auschwitz.

Anyway, I think they really believe their own hype that because VII states this in Gaudium et Spes 22, that inherently there is some reasonable hope, apparently especially among the Jews, that all are saved. Balthasarian.

And if Jews might be saved in their explicit or implicit rejection of Christ, then it isn't a stretch to say that Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, and all stripes of heathens might be already saved. In this line of thinking, Lefebvre was right. It creates a Gnostic sect.

    1. I wouldn't call it Gnosticism. But even kindly old Pope Benedict wrote that it was likely only super bad people might go to a largely empty Hell. Hell stands in the way of unity. They will weasel their way to accepting Muslims, Hindus, etc. As for acknowledgment of the Holocaust, it is a polite expectation in official events and documents. The Bear recognizes a tired old pony. He wouldn't get too upset by it.

    2. Gnostic in the sense of an invisible Church whose members may also be outside the visible communion of the Church. Its dogmas are constantly evolving as they are "revealed" by experience and dialogue.

Such as this piece from CCC #847 inserted into Denzinger by Karl Rahner, SJ:
Those who, through no fault of their own, do not know the Gospel of Christ or his Church, but who nevertheless seek God with a sincere heart, and, moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience - those too may achieve eternal salvation.

And as Cardinal Wojtyla preached at a Vatican retreat: "O God of infinite majesty! The Trappist or the Carthusian confess this God by a whole life of silence. The Bedouin wandering in the desert turns toward him when the hour of prayer approaches. And this Buddhist monk absorbed in contemplation, who purifies his spirit in turning it towards Nirvana: but is it only towards Nirvana? […] The Church of the Living God unites in her precisely these peoples who in some manner participate to this admirable and fundamental transcendence of the human spirit." (Karol Wojtyla, Le signe de contradiction, Ed. Fayard 1979, pgs. 31-32)

According to the doublespeak of modernism, in this "church," even those outside the faith of Christ "in some way" take part in the Body of Christ.. especially the Synagogue.

Archbishop Lefebvre held the same view.

See Open Letter to Confused Catholics #10 (quoted below in pertinent part).

We must say it clearly: such a concept is radically opposed to Catholic dogma. The Church is the one ark of salvation, and we must not be afraid to affirm it. You have often heard it said, “Outside the Church there is no salvation”--a dictum which offends contemporary minds. It is easy to believe that this doctrine is no longer in effect, that it has been dropped. It seems excessively severe.

Yet nothing, in fact, has changed; nothing can be changed in this area. Our Lord did not found a number of churches: He founded only One. There is only one Cross by which we can be saved, and that Cross has been given to the Catholic Church. It has not been given to others. To His Church, His mystical bride, Christ has given all graces. No grace in the world, no grace in the history of humanity is distributed except through her.

Does that mean that no Protestant, no Muslim, no Buddhist or animist will be saved? No, it would be a second error to think that. Those who cry for intolerance in interpreting St. Cyprian's formula, “Outside the Church there is no salvation,” also reject the Creed, “I confess one baptism for the remission of sins,” and are insufficiently instructed as to what baptism is. There are three ways of receiving it: the baptism of water; the baptism of blood (that of the martyrs who confessed the faith while still catechumens) and baptism of desire.

Baptism of desire can be explicit. Many times in Africa I heard one of our catechumens say to me, “Father, baptize me straightaway because if I die before you come again, I shall go to hell.” I told him “No, if you have no mortal sin on your conscience and if you desire baptism, then you already have the grace in you.”

The doctrine of the Church also recognizes implicit baptism of desire. This consists in doing the will of God. God knows all men and He knows that amongst Protestants, Muslims, Buddhists and in the whole of humanity there are men of good will. They receive the grace of baptism without knowing it, but in an effective way. In this way they become part of the Church.

The error consists in thinking that they are saved by their religion. They are saved in their religion but not by it. There is no Buddhist church in heaven, no Protestant church. This is perhaps hard to accept, but it is the truth. I did not found the Church, but rather Our Lord the Son of God. As priests we must state the truth.

    4. I'm surprised that the Archbishop seems to imply that "implicit baptism of desire" is such a common thing. The Bear is less sanguine, but this is a matter of opinion.

  9. I am loathe to subscribe to conspiracy theories myself, Bear, but there is truth in that old chestnut: "Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me."

I was engaged in law for decades. I have always fancied myself a hard-bitten realist insofar as studying and extrapolating from the facts, apparent and likely, arising from numerous events and topics.

My take on the current circumstances in the Church corresponds with your own, i.e. evil is rampant. Moreover, I believe that it is at best passingly strange that circumstances are now such that the politics and religious sentiments of the Head of the Catholic Church virtually mirror those of the President of the United States, Francis providing the religious and moral justification for the socialist anarchy propounded by the President of the U.S.

One loathes the Catholic Church and the other loathes the United States.

    Just one man's opinion.

Would any Pope following Pius XII ever describe the scores of millions of deaths by Christians at the hands of Communists a modern Golgotha?

To ask that question is to answer it.

Hell, even the deaths of million upon millions of Christian at the hands of the Mahometans, we are taught in Nostra Aetate, ought be forgotten.

So, those of us maintaining the Bonds of Unity in Worship, Doctrine, and Authority are being taught to revere as the crime of all time the Jewish deaths during WW2 while at the same time we are told to forget the history of Mahometan murders of innocent Catholics and we are being taught this by those who seem to have taken a vow of silence regarding THE Holocaust and the slaughter of scores of millions of Christians at the hands of the Communist.

And as for the deliberate starvation of my people, Irish Catholics, by the English Protestants? Pfft, their lives did not matter then nor do they matter now.

ABDS knows what An Gorta Mor means. Does the Pope know it, does he care?

Ever since 1962-1965 BCE (Bestest Council Ever) EVERYTHING refers back to that greatest of all events ('cept for, you know).

  12. The problem, Bear, is the Shadow Church has supplanted THE Holocaust with a particular time in secular History and has identified that as the Holocaust, which, although an act in time, is transformative of time - such as what happens in the re-presentation of the Holy Sacrifice in The Real Mass but, now, it is the other Holocaust which is to be transformative not only of time, but transformative of our putative Mission of salvation and sanctification.

The history of The Holocaust being supplanted by war crimes suffered by the Jews is a self-sacrifical lunacy of incalculable consequences for it has disappeared THE Salvific act of Christ and replaced it with what happened to those who deny the Messias and His Holocaust.

ABS imagines that man could think of an insaner act but that man would have to be Stephen King.

Just ask any Catholic you know what the holocaust is. You don't even have to ask, for we all know what the answer will be.

Having done that - and admitting the reality that the vast number of Catholics are jake with that - what is to prevent The Hierarchy from calling Synagogue services a Mass?

Ecumenism is the universal Solvent of Tradition and unless Tradition is defended in all of its glorious, magnificent, and multifaceted actualisations, it will disappear from the earth just the way THE Holocaust has disappeared in the One True Holy Roman Catholic and Apostolic Church to be replaced by secular history because we ceased to teach that truth.

    1. How about "The Sacrifice of the Mass?" We don't have intellectual property rights on the word "holocaust." It's just a Greek word meaning "whole" and "burnt." Without question Jews effectively "branded" their suffering during WW2 with a word they felt was appropriate. (For some reason they've changed "brand" to "shoah.") So sure, everyone knows the Holocaust is what happened to the Jews in WW2 which was the worst thing ever. The Bear is just not attaching as much importance to this as you are.

Interfaith and ecumenism are poison to Catholicism when pursued the way we are doing now. Pope Francis seems to operate on an almost childlike level. "Oh, Tony Palmer is such a sincere man. What's to prevent brothers from worshipping together?" "Oh, Rabbi Skorka is such a nice man. Surely we can find a way to include Jews into the Church."

      Delete
    2. Bear, it is not about "property rights" it is about Salvific Truth which we have allowed to be replaced by secular history. If the Hierarchy teaches Catholics what is most important to Jews but takes a vow of silence about The Holocaust, who benefits?

There is not a lot of talk in the Rabbinate about the Pluperfect Salvific Sacrifice of Jesus Christ on Calvary.

      Delete
    3. ...what is to prevent The Hierarchy from calling Synagogue services a Mass?

Bear. Yes, we know it was the Jews who appropriated the Holocaust to describe the evil directed at them during WW2 but the problem is not what the Jews do (OK, it is, but not re this point) but, rather, the problem is what the Catholic Church has done for it has supplanted The Holocaust with that which was appropriated for polemical propagandistic purposes by the Jews; that is, The Catholic Church is following in the footsteps of these who are the Messias-Deniers when it is Jesus who we are supposed to be following as His Vicar, Bishops, Disciples when, instead, are kowtowing to their political agenda.

      Cui bono?

And the point abut the Mass is not whether or not we have intellectual property rights to that word but the clear and present danger (Our Inertia into Indifferentism) is that some day, in the not too distant future, either the synagogue worship services will become an approved rite of worship for Catholics, or, Popes begin to describe Synagogue services as a Mass for Jews.

Now that may sound insanely improbable for the moment but that is far less insane than what the Catholic Church has done vis a vis The Holocaust by allowing its enemies, the Messias-Deniers ,to appropriate that word for its suffering which, owing to its racial supremacy (Talmud) considers any wrong done to them incomparably worse than similar suffering, or galactic ally worse suffering, endured by others.

Said otherwise, the Messias-Deniers expect everybody to consider their suffering worse than what Jesus endured for our salvation - and we are letting ourselves be lead around the nose by them on this point.

Bear, were I to have had my wife and children blowed-up by a Mahometan, ABS would not think what the Messias-Deniers suffered during WW2 was worse than the suffering caused ABS but ABS definitely would consider the crime of Deicide -God suffering and dying - incomparably worse than any malign violence directed at ABS' family.

It is beyond ABS (as most things are) why this does not bother Catholic men, but, c'est la vie.

Thanks for you patience, on this point, Bear.

ABS understands he is essentially alone when it comes to this point.

    4. I see a big win for the Jews: the Church no longer believes they are in any way deficient in their religion and they are now off limits to evangelization. The fact that they didn't get their own salvation without Jesus Christ at all (New Jew View still makes it through Him -- somehow -- marks a not insignificant limit as to how far the Church was willing to sell Catholic truth for a press conference, even as they were willing to engage in theological hand-waving to make the point they were not willing to concede irrelevant. We'll just have to wait and see if this is just nicey-nice window dressing or burrows its way into the heart of the Church.
