The reflection on the second intention, regarding evangelization, already displayed on their site, has this to say about the persecution of Christians:
The reasons behind this persecution are many. In some cases it is not a matter of religious differences but tribal, economic, and class differences. Sometimes persecution arises out of the fear of something new and different from the traditional religion of one’s ancestors. Sometimes being a Christian is seen as being unpatriotic.Needless to say, the words "Muslim" or "Islam," is nowhere to be found. Indeed, the fact that it's all about Muslims killing Christians is downplayed. Did you know many, heck, probably most, Christians are persecuted because of economic and class differences? Funny, neither did the Bear.
The same Jesuit outfit that produces those, the Pope's Apostleship of Prayer, will be having a "Hearts on Fire" retreat Friday and Saturday, March 18 and 19 at St. Anselm's Parish Center, 530 S. Mason Road, in St. Louis, Missouri. It is sponsored by the Office of Young Adult Ministry of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, and carries a suggested donation of $30, although one may attend free.
