Dapper Bear Drinking Cosmo

The Bear received by Woodlands Post this delightful token of admiration from Badger. It is a portrait of a dapper Bear dressed in what appears to be a very fine 1940s suit, drinking a Cosmopolitan (or to interpret it less anachronistically, perhaps a gin-based Daisy).

It is drawn on a large leaf from "Wilson's Tales of the Borders, and of Scotland. Historical, Traditionary and Imaginative." They were originally published in weekly installments beginning in 1834. The story this particular page comes from is dated 1835 and appears to be from "The Orphan."

  1. This appears to be the Bear as a young law acoholic graduate, wolfing around the streets of Chi-town, looking for easy prey. I have to admit though, the Bear reminds me here of the odd pagan locals in the original Wicker Man.

    1. I meant to write "young law school graduate", but spellcheck had something else in mind. Sorry!

    1. Cybersecurity is the least-recognized element of your overall Bear defense. How is this laptop owner going to explain the prank Facebook posts and Tweets? The best defense is to keep your laptop in a Bear-proof steel box, which will pretty much limit your mobility, though. You're probably safe using your laptop anyplace you want, as long as it doesn't have WiFi. Bears avoid places without WiFi, unless such places also have food, like Starbucks or Panera. Make sure you have your home WiFi encrypted, keeping in mind Bears are extremely good password guessers. However, do not make it so hard that it frustrates the Bear, or he may come into your house and interrogate you. If that happens, tell him what it is immediately, make sure he is online, and bake him a pie.
